I fail at updating blogs: Class 2

So I've completely failed at updating for the last month or two - i'm hoping to get back into it again. These are the two things I produced in class 2:

For class 211, representation of "force". We could show him picking up something heavy, opening a sticky door, etc. I went with an invisible rope, and it sort of works...

For class 206, finished armless duder jumping across some platforms:

And here's a walk cycle i've been working on in the off-week between class 2 and 3:

Hopefully as class 3 starts/progresses I will get in more updates~

class 109

Smoothed out and cleaned up the walk this week. Knees are ridiculous to fix, and this still isn't perfect but.. i'm happy with it!

Concern! I felt really dramatic making this.

Concern sketch ideas: Check out the sweet claw on the bottom. It looks more like the other guy is trying to cast a spell rather than be concerned.

108 - intro to walks

So! This week we started blocking walks. Blocking in the animation term for laying down key poses - as you would draw keyframes on paper to get the pose and timing correct for your 2d animation. The in-between frames and smoothness/corrections come next week.

Planning sheet for walk:

Also we had to do a pose conveying "strength" this week.

...and the sketch ideas for that:

class 107 - tailor!

So this week we started out with this ridiculous little tail guy, Tailor. He's a ball with a tail attached, so it's basically using what we learned last week about wave patterns with the pendulum along with what we know about bouncing balls. It took a ridiculously long time for the wave pattern to finally "click" with me, but I finally sort of figured it out, and i'm pretty happy with how this looks.

class 106 - from heavy balls onwards to swingin' balls

Half done with Class 1! This assignment was about overlapping action and such - and we had to make a pendulum swing. I gave mine an old-style breakout/arkanoid sort of twist. I was criticized on the 'slow/underwater' motion of this.. but I built it that way and it feels good to me, so I have no regrets. I am going to speed it up for more a more realistic physics feel and turn it in for a revision.

On a side note, the motion graph for this assignment ended up looking like a squid:

class 105 - obstacle course

i made a neat course but the ball feels like a small rubber ball, not a basketball like it should. i have to fix this soon by slowing down the timing for most of the bounces.

class 104 - heavy and light balls

Revised and completed heavy and light ball drops!
